How To Remove AntiVirus Systems Pro!   Free Solution with No Sales!

I was called by a new client in response to this AntiVirus Systems Pro message, reports of viruses on his computer,  and the associated non-functioning of most programs on his computer. The solution proposed by this AntiVirus Systems Pro (which is actually MALWARE) was to buy their AntiVirus System Pro program for $79.95.

Using my uninfected laptop, I searched for references to this AntiVirus Systems Pro and found all types of instructions to remove it from a computer (along with more offers to buy other anti-spyware, antivirus, registry cleaning programs). I followed several of the instructions offered by these places however no where on the hard drive or in the registry did I find any references to this AntiVirus Systems Pro. So apparently the %#$%^ person who wrote this malware, just to cause other people harm and steal $79.95 from each sucker who attempted to buy "his solution", also read these fixes and renamed all the files, folders, and registry entries to some other names.

The solution I found that worked was to boot the computer into safe mode and restore the computer to a point before this AntiVirus Systems Pro sh*t appeared. I then installed Windows Defender (free antispyware program from Microsoft - included with Vista and Windows 7 but a download for XP) on my clients computer and ran this Windows Defender and the safety scan (with free registry cleaner): http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm (also from Microsoft). This safety scan program also does an antispyware and antivirus sweep.
